Westchester is a great place to film from the air: big properties, estates, water views and new construction everywhere. It is also one of the trickier counties in New York to fly in. Here is what drone photography is good for, what it costs, and the rules that decide where a drone can go.
What businesses use drone footage for
Real estate and estates. One aerial shows the house, the grounds, the pool and the view in a single frame, which is exactly what buyers want to see first.
Land parcels. We draw the property lines right on the aerial, so a buyer can see the whole parcel at a glance instead of guessing from the road.

Construction progress. The same shot, month after month, shows owners, investors and future customers how a project is coming together.
Venues, events and brand films. Aerial establishing shots make a venue, an event or a brand film feel bigger than anything shot from the ground.
What makes Westchester different
Westchester County Airport. HPN has a control tower and controlled airspace around it. Under FAA rules a licensed Part 107 pilot needs an airspace authorization before flying there. Most of the time that can be requested quickly through the FAA's LAANC system, but spots close to the runways can need more time or cannot be approved at all, so we check before the shoot.
County parks. Westchester County's park rules say the use of model aviation, including drones, is prohibited. New York State parks need written approval or a permit.
The New York City line. Taking off or landing inside city limits requires a permit, so projects near the border need a plan early.
That is why most Westchester drone shoots launch from private property with the owner's permission: the home, estate, venue or job site being filmed. The full breakdown is in our guide to Hudson Valley and Westchester drone rules.
